      Should be ok, give it a good wash with soap and water first to remove anything left over from casting, then a light sand with like a 400 grit sandpaper or 000 steel wool (rinsing again after). I would also use a spray primer meant for plastics (I always buy primers from car stores, e.g. Halfords in the UK). Should be all good after that!

    I'd personally go for a nice dark wood for the handle to counter the brightness of the metal. I'm assuming the handle would be metal in the book, but I think something like a bit of English walnut would contrast well. Edit: Some white maple or cherry might work well, especially when sanded up to a high grit.

    I clicked on this being like 'didn't i watch something like this a few years ago?' and apparently i did. Why was there such a gap between videos? Also, if you cast the parts straight up and not on their side, you should be able to keep the hole and only have to do minimal work to clean up one of the edges.

    • @BucketheadStudios
      @BucketheadStudios 4 месяца назад

      You did! 😄 Sometimes life gets in the way and the project gets shelved. Also have the problems to solve, such as drilling the steel parts, casting the handles, etching the blade etc. Yeah it's the only way I can see for casting, but also don't want to tear the mould where the hole is when demoulding. So may need some metal rods in there for support etc. The hole is narrow and wide which is tricky

    • @kalypso4133
      @kalypso4133 4 месяца назад

      @@BucketheadStudios that is the problem i had foreseen as well, bit it's also the only way i can see it working. You can always cut it out. Seen plenty of people use silicon molds, and cut them just enough to get their piece out and the mold is still usable. I have yet to do it myself, but i bet there is some tutorial out there somewhere.

    VERY cool. A few years ago, I started looking into the replicas of his sword from this film and found that Noone had ever released an accurate copy. So, I tracked down reference photos from auctions of the props, along with measurements and close-ups of all of the fittings. Shared my findings on a sword collecting Facebook page, and was contacted by a gentleman (well, several people contacted me for advice but one in particular, helped with the tsuba. We found the original historical tsuba that the film one was based on and used a metal 3d printing company to make the tsuba. I bought all of the other fittings and a somewhat mass produced but mostly handmade sword that had everything correct on the blade. I adjusted and assembled everything. Wrapped the tsuka in leather ito and called it a day. It's on display with my accurate Kill Bill Bride's sword. BUT I hadn't considered adding Alghren's pistol.

      That is awesome! Sounds like an amazing piece you put together, love the deep dive research. Would love to see it if you posted to any socials. Yeah just became a bit fascinated with the revolver and wanted to track one down that was a good facsimile. There were only about 7000 real ones made, and as I mentioned it was tricky to track one down that was safe and I could own without a license. I found a site called the Internet movie firearm database (imfdb) if you want to look at what models they use in this, or any, movie. Handy resource
